Gas Rate:  $1.97 per therm (Residential & Small Commercial customers)

Facility Charge:

• Residential and Small Commercial Firm Customers:  $18.00 per month
• Large Industrial and Commercial Customers:  $350.00 per month

Sales Tax (residential gas usage is exempt from Sales Tax) :

• State of South Carolina:  6%
• Laurens County:  2% (1% Capital Projects Tax + 1% Local Option Tax)
• Newberry County:  1% Capital Projects Tax

Bill Calculation Example:

Assume:  A residential account uses 110 units of gas since the last read date and has no other additional charges.  If the current heat content is 1.024 and the current gas rate is $0.93.  Here is how the gas usage would be billed (additional charges are added to this amount)...

Usage x BTU content value = 110 x 1.024 = 112.64 therms of gas

Therms x gas rate = 112.64 x $0.93 = $104.76

Add facility charge = $104.76 + $18.00 = $122.76 (the billed gas amount)
